Curling Club of Rochester

  Curling Club of Rochester, MN

We host a variety of events throughout the curling season. See our Calendar / Events List page for dates and times.

Learn To Curl

Learn to Curl events are basic introductions to the sport of curling where participants spend about two hours on the ice. During these sessions, attendees learn the basics of delivery and how to throw different types of shots, explore beginning curling strategy, and play a short game. Afterwards, participants are encouraged to head to a local restaurant and participate in broomstacking, socializing after a game of curling. Unlike Curling & Cocktails, Learn to Curl attendees are responsible for their own broomstacking bills.

Curling & Coctails

Curling & Cocktail events are fun, brief overviews of curling. Participants spend an hour on the ice quickly learning the basics and then play a very short game. After the game, all attendees relocate to a local restaurant for broomstacking, socializing after a game of curling, where their first drink is on us! Attendees are also provided with light appetizers.

Curling League

The Curling Club of Rochester offers league play and instructional league play with draws at 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm at the Rochester Recreation Center. The fall league begins in October, the winter instructional league in January, and the winter league in February. The Club is exploring the potential for additional leagues as ice time becomes available.

Rochester Outdoor Bonspiel

A bonspiel is a curling tournament held over a weekend. Curling Club of Rochester hosts an annual outdoor bonspiel in February.

Pop-Up Outdoor Curling

Stay posted on our Facebook page for pop-up outdoor curling events this winter. Given the weather and outdoor ice prep, the Club can only plan for these events five to seven days ahead of time.

Curling Friendly Competitions

A friendly is a competition between two or more curling clubs. The Curling Club of Rochester has an annual December friendly against the Cedar Rapids Curling Club at the Portage Curling Club in Wisconsin. There is also an annual spring friendly at the Dakota Curling Club in Lakeville, Minnesota. Curling Friendly Competitions are members-only and are a great opportunity to play on dedicated curling ice and to broomstack with fellow curlers.

Youth/Family Curling

The Curling Club of Rochester occassionally hosts events specifically for youth and families. Similar to Learn to Curl events, these clinics cover the basics of delivery and how to throw different types of shots, explore beginning curling strategy, and play a short game. After the clinic, youth curlers get to broomstack at the arena with cookies. The Club plans to have regular Youth Curling clinics and leagues once a dedicated curling facility is built in Rochester.
